North Carolina Piedmont Lexington-Style Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

cups
white vinegar

tablespoons
ketchup
1/2
cup
water
1
tablespoon
sugar
1/2
teaspoon
cayenne pepper
Pinch
of crushed red pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to medium and stir until sugar dissolves.
Remove from heat, and let stand until room temperature.
