Apple Ginger Sauce

Serve this sauce with a slow roasted or barbecued pork roast. A nice break from typical tomato based barbecue sauces.

Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup apple cider
  • 1/3 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 tablespoon brandy
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
Instructions
  1. Mix the apple cider and chicken broth in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
  2. Simmer uncovered until sauce is reduced to a 1/2 cup.
  3. Mix the water, brandy, and cornstarch. Slowly stir this into the cider mixture with a whisk. Cook for about 2 minutes, until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and add in cider vinegar, butter, and ginger.
